Job Description

Global publisher of high-quality books across a variety of categories is seeking a Global Head of Sales. Reporting to the CEO, this person will serve as a critical member of the leadership team in strategizing, driving, and building retail partnerships and scaling growth categories. This person will manage a team of ten through five direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the leadership team in driving the acceleration of new business growth.
  • Responsible for maximizing global sales for all territories and channels by developing and implementing a long-term sales growth strategy.
  • Develop and implement premier sales operations processes with clear KPIs, metrics, and processes that result in an effective, efficient, and results-driven sales organization focused on scalable growth.
  • Manage relationship with US-based distribution team from a sales perspective. Evaluate and build a prolific in-house selling team as needed. Focus on mass market, national accounts, special markets, and new channel development.
  • Develop new sales channels for non-book products including Gift & Stationery, Calendars, and Collectibles.
  • Work with the Subsidiary Rights to develop revenue growth plan for international co-edition markets. Drive growth in non-licensed sales and develop markets and regions worldwide.
  • Manage international distribution partners worldwide. Evaluate and develop new sales and distribution partners as required.
  • Assist in identifying and securing new business opportunities with new and existing partners.
  • Partner effectively with Marketing to execute sales and marketing plans, strengthen licensing partnerships, and increase exposure at key brick-and-mortar and online retail accounts.
  • Partner with the Creative, Marketing, and Operations teams to drive DTC eCommerce growth.
  • Provide timely sales feedback to publishing teams on new title acquisitions, including title sales budgets and sales channel strategy.
  • Drive sales-related process improvements, including working with creative teams on Sales Materials process. Help build a culture of collaboration and accountability within the Sales and Creative teams.
  • Work with Finance team to provide sales analytical support. This includes annual title budgeting, channel reviews, distribution partner analysis, and quarterly forecasting as required.
  • Work closely in a matrixed environment with Operations, Marketing, Acquisitions, Design, Finance, and other senior leadership to set clear targets for global growth.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience with hands-on management of global publishing sales teams in a dynamic, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in selling into global book retail accounts.
  • Existing relationships with key and influential global retail buyers.
  • Strong background in and knowledge of selling AAA-level licensed books and stationery as well as children's, lifestyle, cookery, and mind/body/spirit categories.
  • Proven track record of growing a customer base and consistently exceeding revenue targets and company goals.
  • Experience working closely and communicating effectively with internal and external partners including product, acquisitions, and marketing teams in a constantly evolving, growth environment.
